I. MALIK SAAFIR

Malik Saafir has dedicated more than three decades to serving at the crossroads of faith, education, military service, and justice. A Navy and Army veteran, ordained minister, and interfaith leader, Malik’s journey embodies the Ubuntu principle: “I am because we are.”

He has been called to chaplaincy in the armed services, to humanitarian response with the American Red Cross, and to academic leadership in philosophy, divinity, and workforce readiness. Across these roles, Malik has woven together the disciplines of Christian ministry, Jewish practice, and Sufi mysticism, demonstrating that resilience and healing require both scholarship and lived encounter.

Malik is also a long-time conversation partner in the birthing of frameworks like The Economy of Being and Group 6-22, contributing his perspective to early experiments in convergence and communal practice. His academic journey includes advanced studies in philosophy and divinity, alongside extensive doctoral-level fieldwork, grounding his work in both intellectual rigor and lived testimony.

At The Convergence 2025, Malik’s presence centers the human dimension of transformation: healing as a precondition for justice, justice as a demand of resilience, and resilience as a communal practice. He reminds us that clarity is not only a conceptual achievement but a way of life—embodied in relationships, service, and the courage to stand with others in the unfolding unknown.
