Founder & CEO, The Center for Black Excellence and Culture
Rev. Dr. Alexander Gee, a Madison native, is the Founder and CEO of The Center for Black Excellence and Culture. A visionary leader and social entrepreneur, Dr. Gee has devoted his career to advancing Black-designed solutions that foster empowerment, inclusion, and systemic change. Through his work in cultural innovation, leadership development, and community and economic transformation, he has become a sought-after voice in both local and global arenas.
Dr. Gee also serves as Senior Pastor of Fountain of Life Church, is President Emeritus of The Nehemiah Center for Urban Leadership Development, and hosts the award-winning podcast Black Like Me with Dr. Alex Gee.
The Center for Black Excellence and Culture—made possible through Dr. Gee’s successful leadership in raising over $33 million in just over three years—will open in late 2025 as a 37,500-square-foot, debt-free facility. This transformational space will serve as a national model for dismantling barriers to Black wellness while celebrating and elevating Black excellence. Through Pan-African cultural expression, artistic and theatrical performance, innovation, leadership development, and intergenerational programming, the Center will shine as a beacon of empowerment, pride, and cultural flourishing.
In addition to his groundbreaking work in Madison, Dr. Gee’s influence extends globally. His relief efforts, lectures, sermons, and consulting have taken him across North America, South Africa, South Korea, Cambodia, and India.
Dr. Gee is an author of two books and holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, a doctorate in Transformational Leadership from Bakke Graduate University, and an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters from UW–Madison. He was recently appointed Adjunct Faculty in UW–Madison’s Department of African American Studies.
